Sandy Daswani, mother of 2, cook, chef, author, have turn her love of cooking, into a passion, and her passion into an art.
Starting more than 17 years ago, at Pullman Hotel, she moved to manage an industrial canteen at a large garment factory; having gained valuable experience, she opened her own business Calypso Catering serving more than 500 guest at a time at weddings, cocktails, anniversaries.
Later she moved to South Africa as Chef for a French restaurant, based in the posh Shopping mall of Tiger Valley center in Cape Town, serving Classic French and fusion cuisine.
Amalgam of French, English, Creole, Indian, Chinese, Malay cultures the Mauritian cuisine is a real fusion of all these cultures and yet present a very distinctive character of its own.
In her book “UN CHEF A LA MAISON”, she reveals all the secrets of Mauritian cuisines. This wonderful book is a generous sampler of original and fusion cuisines of our beautiful island.
