A week with Chef Sandy at the Pallagino Guest House

Rich in history and flavors, Mauritian/Creole cuisine is one of the most exotic in the world. The sophisticated Mauritian/Creole palate arose as the country played host to travellers and emigrants from countries as disparate as France, England, Africa, India, China, Malaysia, and other Asia countries, a fusion of all these cultures have created a unique cuisine with a very distinctive character and captures this richness as its own.

In our all inclusive 8 days / 7 nights Culinary tour, you will discover interesting places and enjoy street foods like locals, taste more than 70 dishes and learn hands-on how to cook more than 20 exotic delicious dishes, a real explosion of senses, colors and flavours.

A combination of heart warming hospitality, fine food and drinks, and enthusiastic hosts/staff are necessary ingredients for this be your most memorable vacation ever.

Day 1

Arrival

Pick-up at the airport. After a short drive arrive at the villa “Pallagino

Welcome by Chef/Patronne Sandy – Enjoy a refreshing cocktail.

Relax and settle into your room or walk 5 minutes to the beautiful golden beach, and dip into the crystal clear water.

This evening, you take the back seat and enjoy and watch, get your first initiation on Mauritius cuisine.

Let the Chef do the cooking.

Day 2

Port-Louis and the Bazaar

After breakfast, Guided by Chef Sandy take a tour of Port-Louis market. 

Get introduce to fresh local produce, herbs and spices, purchase anything of your liking, to cook once back at the villa.

Discover Mauritius street foods, Dholl puri, samosas, chili cakes, gato arouilles, not forgetting our most famous “Alouda” a milk shake with Mauritian twist. Feel free to roam and shop around on your own, we will meet for lunch at Caudan Waterfront.

Back at the villa, you will cook a wonderful fish dish and some of the interesting, freshly purchased vegetables. After cocktail, enjoy dinner with drinks.

Day 3

Pamplemousse and the North

After Breakfast – You will take a guided tour of “Pamplemousse” botanical gardens.

Enjoy a traditional lunch at a beach front restaurant overlooking the bay. 
Free-time for shopping. Visit the craft market. We will drive around to discover the great other beaches of Grand Bay: “La Cuvette” “Pereybere”.  

Visit Cap Malheureux, to see the oldest chapel in Mauritius, famous with its red roof.

This evening you will cook a fantastic meal – Soup, Starters, Chicken, Rice, Vegetable, Salad and Dessert. Time for a cocktail, and then enjoy dinner with drinks.

Day 4

Discover the East

After breakfast, Explore the East; In the village of Trou D’Eau Douce, take a short trip on speed boat, to discover the « Ile aux Cerf » without any doubt the most beautiful beaches of Mauritius. 

Of unparalleled beauty, water so pure, so clear, with pretty little fishes swimming around. 

Perhaps you’d like to be the next « Robinson Crusoe and build your next cabin on the island. A day full of emotions, sun, beach and sea. 

Lunch – Feast on seafood and lobster, not to forget our good old rum, and of course followed by everlasting rums tasting sessions… 

We visit the Grand River South East waterfalls.

Day 5

Free time and Farniente

After breakfast, swim in crystal clear water of the lagoon, relax by the Poolside, read a book, take your time to enjoy.

Free time Shopping, visit the craft market.

Lunch – Feast in a grand restaurant.  

Late afternoon: hands-on cooking lesson – Lentil soup, Rougailles, Plate of Fritters, Salad, more of the local vegetable dishes and dessert.

Day 6

Dolphin Safari

Quick early morning breakfast, we drive south for the Dolphin Safari.

Watch and swim with these marvellous creatures in their natural habitats (not a park). 

Enjoy BBQ lunch at “Benitier” Island, with plenty of rum and drinks.

Dip in sparkling waters at Crystal Rock, an open sea aquarium.

This evening, the Chef will show you how to cook a complete meal of 5 dishes in 30 minutes MAX. 

Time for a cocktail, and then enjoy dinner with drinks.

Day 7

Discovering the Southern Wilderness

Visit a ship model factory and see artisans create great masterpieces of the sailing ships.

Visit a diamond factory, unique pieces, for the pleasure of the eyes.

Curepipe and the “Trou aux cerfs” – See a volcano from its summit. 

The Ganga Talao’ with its numerous temples. Great place of worship for the population of Hindu faith. Visited by over 300,000 people each year during the festival of “Maha Shivratri” or The Great Night of Shiva – discover the largest statue of Shiva outside the India. 

The pilgrims walk for days and nights to reach the “Ganga Talao”. 

Plaine Champagne, ‘The Gorges of the Black River‘, ‘Le Parc Alexandra‘ …

The Land of the 7 Colors earth” gold, red, blue, green, black … Unique / simply Fabulous!

The Chamarel waterfalls.

Enjoy lunch in a typical restaurant, to taste the products of Chamarel.

Tired by this wonderful adventure – Relax – Let the Chef do the cooking.
Enjoy your evening. Awards and pictures souvenirs, while tasting homemade schnapps’.

Day 8

Departure

Enjoy your breakfast. – Relax.

Then it is time to say good bye, until next time. 

Depart for the airport, your head full of beautiful and unforgettable memories, heart warmed by the sun of Mauritius, dreaming about coming back.
